Job Title: Payroll Officer
Salary: £15k - £18k per annum
Based in Preston, Lancashire
Salary £15k - £18k dependant on experience
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
v To provide a comprehensive payroll service to the Company
POSITION IN ORGANISATION
v Role forms part of the Management Accounts Team, reporting to the Financial Controller
SCOPE OF JOB
v Responsible for ensuring that all payroll data is accurately recorded, inputting information and preparing reports monthly/weekly
v Ensure that all new starter payroll information has been entered on to Ceridian
v Responsible for accurate processing and recording of PAYE, NIC, SMP, SSP, SPP, SAP and holiday pay
v Responsible for preparation and inputting all payroll amendments, including but not withstanding salary amendments, overtime, bonus payments, incentive payments, as per policies and procedures, ensuring deadlines are met and adhered to
v Administration, processing and monitoring of holiday records, including inputting holiday information onto Ceridian, ensuring adherence to Company policies and procedures and effective query handling
v Responsible for administration and processing of the year end procedure and P60’s, to government led timeframes
v Assist with preparation and processing of P11’d’s and PAYE settlements
v Ensure the prompt and accurate operation of all employee benefit schemes, pensions administration and additional payments in accordance with Company and Inland Revenue regulations
v Ensure the prompt and accurate reporting of all payroll information
v Answering payroll queries raised by staff and managers
v Ensure prompt and efficient processing of all Employee Terminations, including P45 process and issue
v Preparation of payroll journal and input into accounting system
v Liaison and first point of contact for external agencies in regard to payroll, including but not withstanding Benefits Agency, CSA, Inland Revenue, Pension Administrators
v Ensure the prompt and accurate return of all payroll related enquires, such as Benefits Agency, Mortgage information, etc, within an appropriate time frame
v Produce reports and information on a Monthly/Weekly basis including but not withstanding Headcount, sickness, holiday, payroll costings
v Prepare payroll forecasts as required by the Finance Director
v General duties as required to ensure maintenance of an effective, flexible Management Accounts Department
v Any other adhoc duties as required by the Finance Director or Financial Controller
QUALIFICATIONS
v Strong academic/professional qualification (minimum A level standard)
v Previous experience in a payroll function is essential
EXPERIENCE
v Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role
v Proven ability to liase at all levels – both internally and externally
v Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft applications in particular excel
v Ability to work on own initiative
